Uig at Home to Harris, 1949

From the Gazette, 22 July 1949:

Football:– On Wednesday, 6th July, Uig completed their home league programme when Harris visited Ardroil.

The home team quickly went ahead from a well-placed shot from Mackay which gave the Harris goalkeeper no chance.  The Uig forwards were well supplied with the ball, and it was no surprise when Morrison, from close range, sent the team further ahead.  All Harris attacks were taken care of by an able Uig defence and if the forwards had been more willing to ‘have a go’ in front of goal, the home side would have been further in the lead.  As it happened, the defence was, for once, caught on the wrong foot, and harris scored their first goal.  The half-time score was 2-1.

The visitors livened up in the second half, but the Uig defenders stood firm, and the home team gradually took command of the game.  Mackay again opened the scoring in this half, and Morrison increased the home lead with a lovely shot from the left touchline, which completely deceived the goalkeeper.

Harris never gave up, but the Uig forwards had found their shooting boots, and were now definitely on top.  Macdonald, the right winger, who was hirpling from a shin injury, got the fifth goal when he scooped the ball into the net over the head of the advancing goalkeeper.

Five minutes from time, Mackay completed his scoring and his own hat-trick.  The final score was Uig 6, Harris 1.

The game was capably refereed by Mr John Macleod, Carishader.  Unless there is an unexpected collapse in their remaining three games, Uig should be all set for promotion.

Does anyone have a picture of the team in the late 1940s, or know who the players mentioned are?
