The Valtos Trust is hosting a visit from Tom Dawson of the SCAPE Trust (Scottish Coast Archaeology and the Problem of Erosion; www.scapetrust.org) on 4 May 2009. Tom and the Comhairle archaeologist Mary Macleod will visit Kneep Headland, the site of significant Bronze, Iron and Viking-age burials, which is visibly blowing away. (In last week’s windy weather, sand could be seen blowing out of the scoop in great quantities.) Tom will also talk about what is involved in setting up a community archaeology project.
Everyone is welcome to join them on Monday 4th, on site at Kneep Headland (the west end of Traigh na Berie) at about 3.30pm, and later in Uig Community Centre at 7.30pm.
