1912 - Sgoil Mhangurstaidh air Ùr-Fhosgladh – Mangersta School Opens

Because of the resettlement of Mangersta, a school was needed. At first lessons were held in the old farmhouse in the village, with a paid monitor to instruct the pupils.

A timber and corrugated iron schoolroom and teacher’s accommodation was constructed outside the village. This was the only temporary school building in the district.

It opened on 14 November 1912 with fourteen pupils and Margaret Ross from Inverness as teacher.
