1790 - Gnìomhachas Dualchasach (1790 – 1830) – Traditional Production (1790 – 1830)
Barley and black oats were the main crops but by the 1790s large quantities of potatoes and kale were also grown in Uig. The common spade as well as the traditional cas-chrom was used to till the ground. In 1794 there were 2007 head of Black cattle, 682 small horses and 5044 sheep of a short breed introduced by the Norse. By the 1830s the Blackface, Linton and Cheviot breeds from the south of Scotland were numerous.
