Valtos Marriages 1824-1869

The following marriages, all involving at least one Valtos family, are extracted from the Old Parish Register of the Established Church in Uig. Not all marriages were registered and the date may refer to the calling of banns, rather than an actual wedding.

The dip in numbers from 1844 onward is no doubt due to the shift of virtually the entire population from the Established Church to the Free Church at the Disruption (Free Church registers have not been sourced yet), and from 1851 the statutory Births, Marriages and Deaths record provides a more complete record, accessible at Scotland’s People.
