Islivig School

Islivig School is in Breanish – which came about as a consequence of the old blackhouse school being in Islivig, and the new public school, opened 1888, being at the North end of Breanish.

It was closed in 1949:

Islivig School has been closed, and the children are to be taken daily to Mangersta by bus, when the new session opens. There are only six children on the roll at Islivig. The committee decided to recommend that the school and schoolhouse be let. No further progress has been made in regard tot he proposal for a central school in West Uig, but arrangements are in hand to introduce a secondary course at Valtos.
