1815 - Trosg a Lunnainn (1815 – 20) – Cod for London (1815 – 20)
“It may be remarked that along the west side of the Lews the
finest cod banks in Britain are situated. The London smacks make this coast their chief station and from thence to the London market. There are no piers or harbours of any kind there except only in the harbour formed the mouth of Loch Roag where the London smacks take shelter in stormy weather. There is a very good fishing station called Valtos which has a salt cellar and convenient landing places for boats.”
