Councils unite to oppose Coastguard cuts

Council leaders will petition the UK Government on Monday in their campaign to save coastguard services in the Highlands.
UK Shipping Minister Mike Penning will bear the brunt of anger from councillors from Highland Council and Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland islands councils at the Department for Transport offices in Marsham Street, London.
They want to see round-the-clock coastguard services at Stornoway and Lerwick retained, with emergency towing vessels.
