AGM 2009
Our AGM went well. The whole committee stood again and was re-elected (John Maciver, Finlay Maciver, Donald Macaulay, Donald Maciver, Teen Anne Murray, Sheila Henderson, Fin Morrison, Anna Stewart, Donald Calum Morrison and Sarah Egan) with two new members: Sophie Maclean Crowlista (our youth representative, who brings our average age down by several decades) and Murdanie Macdonald Erista. Office bearers will be appointed at the first meeting, in May.
The business was followed by a showing by Dr Hay of some of the pictures he’s taken over 30 years in Uig, from Erista to Brenish. Shona Mackenzie then gave a beautiful performance of three local songs. We’ll be making an effort to collect these in a more formal way over the summer and hope to offer you recordings and texts in due course. A tea rounded out the evening. Thanks to everyone who turned out (on a spectacularly beautiful evening, when we should have been outside) and who helped to make the night a success.
We are planning a few events over the summer, principally involving excursion around the district and no doubt picnics (like our Strome day). They’ll be posted here but if you’d like to join a mailing list to be reminded of them, please email Sarah. We’ll be happy to have suggestions for outings too.
